The National Lottery

Over the last 30 years, The National Lottery has invested an incredible 6 billion pounds into women’s and girl’s sports, from grassroots all the way up to the professional level. Every now and then a project comes along that is nothing short of a privilege to work on. Firstly, I got to collaborate with the team at Allwyn, who couldn’t have been a more adventurous and trusting client. Secondly, I had the chance to work with Lioness Legend and Queen of the Jungle Jill Scott, who was every bit as funny, self-deprecating and warm as she seems on the telly. And finally, I had the honour of working with a small army of gifted young women, who put us all to shame with their footballing wizardry. Each and every one of them has benefitted from National Lottery funding at some stage of their football journey, some of them just starting out and others already living their pro-footballer dreams, and it was a real pleasure getting to help them showcase their skills to the world. Finally, a word or two about our amazing crew. As is often the way these days, we brought them an idea that was overly ambitious on a budget that shouldn’t have worked, yet every single person involved gave their all from start to finish, going above and beyond at every step. I am very proud of the results and eternally grateful to all of you for bringing this director’s ideas so thrillingly to life. The film you see here is my Director’s Cut. No major differences from the original other than the fact I get to indulge my own ego and make it longer so I can show off all the wonderful shots the team managed to capture.
